What does an automation specialist do?
An automation specialist (or integration developer) connects your different business systems so they talk to each other automatically. Instead of you manually moving data from email to Excel, or from webshop to accounting, I build 'pipelines' that do it for you. I use tools like Make.com and n8n to create tailored workflows that save hundreds of work hours per year.
Why use Make or n8n instead of Zapier?
Zapier is great for simple things but quickly becomes expensive and limited for complex flows. Make (formerly Integromat) and n8n are significantly more powerful tools allowing advanced logic, error handling, and data transformation at a fraction of the cost. As a specialist on these platforms, I can build robust, scalable systems that Zapier simply can't handle.
What can be automated?
Almost anything that has an API or follows logical rules. Common examples: 1) Syncing customer data between CRM and marketing systems. 2) Automatically generating quotes and invoices when a deal is closed. 3) Collecting leads from the website and notifying sales directly in Slack/Teams. 4) Automating onboarding of new customers. 5) AI-generated reporting and analysis.
Is it safe to connect the systems?
Security depends on the systems, data, permissions and operating environment. I use OAuth2 and secure secret-management patterns where possible and limit integration access. Self-hosted n8n can provide greater technical control, but GDPR compliance must be assessed from the actual processing activity.
How much does an automation cost?
It depends entirely on complexity. A simple automation (e.g., saving leads from Facebook to Google Sheets) might cost a few thousand SEK. Larger system integrations replacing a part-time job can range from 30,000–80,000 SEK. I always provide a fixed project price before we start, so you know exactly what it costs and what you get. ROI is usually 3–12 months.
Do we need to replace our current systems?
Usually not. The whole point of my role as an automation specialist is to make your *current* systems talk to each other. I build bridges between Fortnox, HubSpot, WordPress, Google Workspace, Slack, and other tools you already use and love.
What happens if something breaks?
